Photographs of the pets competing in the Humane Society of Alabama’s 2011 Pet Photo Contest will be on display and up for vote at Food World in Troy on Friday.
That will be the last day to vote on-site at the traveling display, so everyone is encouraged to stop by, pick out their favorite pet photo and vote, vote, vote, said Nancy Brooks, a member of the sponsoring Humane Society of Pike County.
The Pet Photo Contest is an annual fund-raiser for the humane society’s spay and neuter program.
This year, the voting is being made more convenient by taking the contest “on the road.”
Brooks is traveling around the county with the photographs of the 84 pets that are vying to be the winner of the contest and to be featured on the cover of the 2011 Humane Society of Pike County’s Pet Photo Calendar.
The 12 pets that receive the next highest numbers of votes will be featured as pets of the month. There will also be pets of the week photos. So, the voting should be fast and furious the until the deadline on Sept. 29 as owners and friends throw their support their pet’s way.
“We wanted to make it as easy as possible for people to vote for their favorite pets,” Brooks said. “The traveling display has been as Sisters Restaurant and at the Piggly Wiggly on Highway 231. And, this Friday, we’ll make our last stop at Food World.”
Voting on-site at Food World will be simple. Just drop a dollar per vote in the envelope next to the pet’s photo and those votes will be added to votes already cast.
“Since we extended the deadline, more than 400 votes have been cast and we hope to have even more in the final days of the contest,” Brooks said.
Votes may be cast on-site at Guynn’s Tax Service, Troy Antiques and The Little Framery, all in Troy.
Votes may also be cast on the Humane Society of Pike County’s website. Just Google and vote. All votes are $1.
