Services for Wilhelmenia Holland Jefferson, 84, of Troy who died August 27, 2010 at Noland Long Term Care of Montgomery will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 01, 2010 at Greater St. Paul A.M.E. Church with pastor, Elijah Shafah officiating. Burial will be in Carroll St. Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Harrison Funeral Home of Troy.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 31, 2010 from 12 Noon until 5 p.m.
Mrs. Jefferson was born Dec. 5, 1925 in New York, New York. She was a graduate of Fort Valley State in Fort Valley, Georgia and Masters-Secondary Education at Alabama A & M.
She was employed by Pike County School Board and part time with the Pioneer Museum.
She was a member of Pike County Teachers Credit Union Board, Troy Library Board, Concerned Citizens, former president of CWT Club, member of Alabama Democratic Conference, New South Coalition, Trustee Board of Greater St. Paul AME Church, AARP and Pike County Retired Teachers Association.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Anthony Holland and Milton Jefferson and her parents, Will and Bessie Davis.
Survivors include her sons, Edguardo Tyrone Holland and wife Sandra Holland of Seattle, Washington and Rossellini Valentino Holland and wife Hubie Holland of Atlanta, Georgia; daughter, Deborah Jefferson of Troy, who was her care giver for over 13 years; grandchildren, John Fitzgerald Jefferson, Edguardo Holland, Mario Holland, Rudi Holland and Faune Watkins; great-grandchild, Jasmine Holland ; brother-in-law, Sammy Holland; cousins, Ed Davis, Brenda Powell, Marcellus Powell, Kisha Powell, Waymon Davis, Lisa Lowe, Karen Lowe, Alonzo Lowe and several friends and colleagues.
