Richard Thomas Hughes age 54, formerly of Brundidge Alabama, passed away, Sunday, August 15th, 2010 at his home in Perry, Georgia after an extended illness. Visitation for Mr. Hughes will be Wednesday, August 18th, 2010 between the hours of 5 and 7 pm at Thrash-Keahey Funeral Home in Brundidge, Alabama.
Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday, August 19th, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. at Lakeview Cemetery with the Rev. Roger Waldrop officiating.
Mr. Hughes is survived by his wife and loving friend Darlene

Perry GA, Taylor Hughes Perry GA, and Nathan Hughes Perry, GA. One daughter Haley(Charles) Breintenbach, Panama City, FL. His Mother Lorene Hughes of Brundidge, three brothers, Robert Hughes, of Brundidge, Randy(Debbie) Hughes of Brundidge and Jim Frank Hughes Jr of Tarentum AL. Three sisters, Sarah(Eddie) Black of Tarentum AL, Annette (Jack) Crawley of Roeton Al and Brenda(David) Hussey of Bernstein, MD. Two grandchildren, Isabella Grace Breintenbach of Panama City, FL and Olivia Mae Hughes of Perry GA.
He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Jim Frank Hughes, Sr.
He loved his work and horse equally.
Employed with Henry Mitchem Equipment over 20 years until company moved. He liked to say he was a walking encyclopedia of farm equipment information.
Mr. Hughes was past president and a Charter member of the GQHRA.
He started and trained race horses for Sandy Hill Stable. He loved his children and made it a point to have fun with them all the while instilling a strong work ethic in them.
He will be fondly remembered and strongly missed by many.
