Services for Bessie Mae Smith Jones who died August 08, 2010 at her home will be at 1 p.m. August 14, 2010 at Rock West Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Charlie Sankey, Jr. officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Harrison Funeral Home of Troy.
Mrs. Jones was born July 07, 1932 in Glenwood. She was a housewife and devoted mother. At an early age, Bessie joined St. Mark Baptist Church in Glenwood. She later moved to Goshen and joined Rockwest Missionary Baptist Church and served as choir president for many years and was a member of the Rose Garden. Mrs. Jones enjoyed gardening and helping others in her community.
She was preceded in death by husband, Dalton Jones and her parents, Charlie and Lucy Whiting Smith.
Survivors include her children, James and Ruthie Jones of Cartersville, Georgia, Virginia Jones of Silver Spring, Maryland, Jerome and Monica Jones of Clarksville, Kentucky, Nadine Jones of Cedartown, Georgia and Adine Jones Banks of Stone Mountain, Georgia; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Penerton of Portsmouth, Virginia, Johnnie Mae Reese of Los Angeles, California and Alberta Smith of Troy; six grandchildren, Marcus, Antonio, James D. Angelo (JD), Morgan, Maya and Steven, several nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, special friend, Doristine Sankey and a devoted friend, Galvestor Mahone.
