Saturday evening, the Troy Farm National team found itself in the winner’s bracket thanks to a Friday night victory.

However, by Saturday night, the team found themselves one loss away from elimination, despite their best efforts.

Troy played against the Eufaula National team, and after jumping to a three run lead in the first inning, was unable to come hold on as Eufaula would go on to win 10-8.

“We didn’t play good ball tonight,” Troy head coach Chad Copeland said.

“We had a slow night with the bats and couldn’t get anything going.”

Troy went up 3-0 in the first inning, thanks to hits by Press Jefcoat, Rodarious Chrisitan and Keith Wheeler.

Eufaula bounced right back, with three runs of their own in the following half inning and while Troy would score another run in the second, it would be the last time it had the lead.

Eufaula had a big four-run inning in the fourth that put them up 7-4, and from there, it never looked back.

Troy did make a bit of a comeback in the last four innings, scoring four runs, but Eufaula had an answer of their own each time.

“After the game, I told the kids this is only our first loss, but we have to play better so we don’t lose again,” Copeland said. “We need to keep making progress.”

Two of the Troy runs came with one swing of the bat, as both Scott Taylor Renfroe and Marx Copeland both rounded the bases for inside the park home runs in the fourth and fifth innings.

Everyone Troy player had at least one hit, while Jefcoat, Christian and Renfroe all had two hits.

After the game, the coach said he is still waiting on his team to do something.

“We need to play a complete game,” Copeland said. “And that is something we haven’t been able to do all year.”

“We have been able to battle back after we have fallen behind, but tonight we were unable to.

“Hopefully, we will be ready to play on Monday,” he added.
