Even though things may not have gone the way the Troy Angels tournament team had hoped in its warm-up games last weekend, all hope is not lost.

The team dropped both of its games last Saturday but in those losses, head coach Larry Sanders believes his team gained something — experience.

“A lot of these girls had never played in a tournament before, so last weekend was their first time.

“I think most of the girls were a bit overwhelmed but now that they have some experience in tournament games, I think they are going to play much better,” the coach said.

The one aspect of the game Troy was unable to do over the weekend was get hits, as the team only had three hits in two games.

“If you don’t hit, you don’t win,” Sanders said.

“This team is capable of playing really well, and it’s going to be a good team, but we just have to get some hits.”

In the team’s first Sub-District game will take place in Eufaula against the winner of Headland and Eufaula.

While Sanders wants his team to perform well, both in the field and at the plate, there is something else he wants his team to do.

“The main thing is for these girls to have fun,” the coach said.

“They are all learning the game, and I know they are going to continue to get better.”
