The Troy Dixie Darlings got off to a hot start in the Darlings warm up tournament, thanks to a big 17-2 win over Zion Chapel Saturday morning.

Troy will now await another winner to close out pool play, with that game beginning at 12:15 p.m.

In the second game of the Dixie Darlings pool play, Troy stayed as hot as the weather.

Enterprise was Troy’s opponent, but just like it did against Zion Chapel, Troy got out to a big lead that turned into another big win, 21-7.

“We are coming along pretty good,” Shane Calhoun said after the win. “We are coming together as team really well right now.”

Troy scored eight runs in the first inning, four in second and nine in the third. Aubrey Maulden, Fanauria Cardwell, Graci Williams Whittaka Starks, Amari Guice, Hannah Calhoun and Emma Kirpatrick all scored twice in the three inning game.

Every Troy player scored at least once.

“I’m feeling pretty good about this team,” Calhoun said. “We are all looking forward to the Sub-District tournament.”
