The Troy Belles started off Saturday’s action at Troy University.
After two wins in pool play, the team joined up with the rest of the leagues and teams at the Troy Spoertsplex for the beginning of the single elimination tournament.
The change in venue did not affect the Troy team whatsoever.
It took two innings for team to dispatch Southside, as Troy won 21-0.
“There isn’t too much for me to say,” head coach Buddy Mehaffey said after the game.
“The girls played hard and got the job done.”
Troy scored seven runs in the first inning and then took over in the second inning, scoring 14 runs before the game clock ran out.
“We did a great job of hitting and pitching,” the coach said.
“It’s always good to start off a tournament like this.”
Every Troy player scored at least one run in the game.
Hannah Fountain, the teams lead off hitter, went to the plate three times in the second inning and finished the game going 1-1 with three scored runs.
If Troy didn’t reach base by making contact, they did it with their patience as the team forced 16 walks in the game, including seven-in-a-row at one point.
Madison Mehaffey and Olivia Hudson each had a double and scored three times.
Victoria Outlaw finished with two doubles and three runs scored while Stephanie Finlayson finished 2-2 with two singles and two runs scored.
