Like their counterparts, the Troy Farm League National team took to the field on Saturday in preparation for the start of the tournament season.

And like the American team, the National team split its first two games against Enterprise and Eufaula.

Troy dropped the first game 15-12, however, won the second game 15-1.

And while head coach Chad Copeland was happy with the offensive outputs from both games, there was something he was even more proud of.

“We came into the game struggling to play together, but towards the end of the first game, we really started to play well as a team.”

Troy was beginning to make a come back in the first game before time ran out, ending any hopes of a comeback.

The team didn’t seem to stop its offensive explosion from the first game, as it went on to score 15 runs in the second game.

“In this league, there are a lot of runs scored,” Copeland said. “But the thing I was most proud of was how well we played defensively.

“We held Eufaula to just one run and that is pretty impressive. Our defense was lacking a little bit coming into the game but I think a game like this is something that will help us turn that around,” he added.

With two games under the team’s belts, Copeland said he believes the team will start to gel more.

“It’s hard to get a group of kids who have been playing against each other to play with one another, but it seemed like the team was coming together [on Saturday].”
