Two young Pike Countians, Braxton Bailey, age 6, and Preston Hughes, 7 months, have been named the ambassadors for the Pike County Firefighters Association’s “Rumble Around the County” on Aug. 21.
Jennifer Register, association secretary, said the “Rumble” is an annual benefit event for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
“This year, our ambassadors are two precious little boys who are affected by muscular dystrophy,” Register. “When you can put a face on a disease, it’s easy for people to understand why it is so important for us to raise money so that research can continue until we find more effective treatments and, one day, a cure for muscular dystrophy.”
“Rumble Around the County” is a Dice Run that begins in at the Brundidge Fire Department and follows a route that includes stops at all Pike County volunteer fire departments.
Register said all bikers are encouraged to mark Aug. 21 on their calendars and plan to be a part of the “Rumble” that is helping to make a difference in the lives of those who are affected by muscular dystrophy and their families.
“At this time, we are looking for sponsors for the 2010 Rumble Around the County,” she said. “We have four levels of sponsorship. A bronze sponsorship is from $25 to $50, a silver is $75 to $100, a gold is from $100 to $300 and a platinum is more than $300.”
Anyone who is interested in being a sponsor for the 2010 Rumble Around Pike County benefit for the Muscular Dystrophy Association is encouraged to call Register at 334-268-1296.
