LYNN MCGEHEE STEWART, 68, of Collierville died May 15, 2010. She was born on March 6, 1942 in Troy, Alabama to Robert A. and Margaret McGehee. She graduated from Troy High School in Troy, Alabama and attended the University of Alabama where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree. She married James Thomas Stewart III on December 22, 1962. Lynn remained a faithful wife and loving mother who supported Tom in his career with International Paper Company for over 37 years which took them to various locales such as Pine Bluff and Camden, Arkansas; to Mobile, Alabama, and finally to Collierville where Tom and Lynn retired. Lynn, an avid Alabama football fan and sports in general, was active in various volunteer organizations throughout her life. While she enjoyed all of them, being involved “behind the scenes” in politics seemed to always be her favorite. She never ran for a political office herself but enjoyed being active in supporting others and helping them during their campaigns. She is survived by her best friend and husband Tom of 47 years, two sons, Robert Thomas Stewart of Cincinnati, Ohio and his wife Edie; and Todd Christopher Stewart of Helena, Arkansas: a brother, Jake Robert McGehee of Jackson, Mississippi and wife Bonney ; an Aunt, Edith Johnson of Troy, Alabama and a beloved Mother-in-Law, Mary Stewart of Memphis. Additionally, she leaves four grandchildren: Matt, Josh, Lauren, and Mary Claire as well as a niece, Courtney McGehee Stakel and nephews, Jay McGehee and Bennett McGehee. Visitation will be held between 5 and 7 pm Monday, May 17 at the Collierville Funeral Home in Collierville Tennessee. There will be a graveside service at 2pm on Tuesday, May 18 at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park Cemetery in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
