PLAS softball heads to state
With a win over Macon-East on Monday, the Pike Liberal Arts softball team now finds itself preparing for the AISA state tournament.
The two teams were a part of a play-in game at Macon-East, with the winner advancing and the loser’s season coming to an end.
The Patriots’ season will now continue into the second season thanks to a 7-5 win.
Both Kailee Taylor and Shelby Broadway had strong outings on the mound for PLAS, as Taylor pitched the first two innings before Broadway took over.
Broadway finished with two strikeouts and gave up four hits.
At the plate, the Patriots were just as productive as Rebecca Farrar finished 2-4 with home run.
Sara Richburg finished 3-4 at the plate while J.J. Jones finished 2-3 with an RBI and Brandi Henderson finished 3-3 with a double and three RBIs.
The playoffs will begin on May 7 in Montgomery at Lagoon Park.
