City holds Brownbag lunch to kickoff TroyFest event
Got plans for lunch tomorrow?
The Department of Public Relations and Tourism in Troy is inviting the community to a Brownbag lunch on the square tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
In conjunction with an effort to kick off TroyFest, Friday’s festivities will include a live WSFA weather report, entertainment, prize drawings and free food.
“We just want to invite everybody to come out downtown on the square at the gazebo,” said Shelia Jackson, Director of Public Relations and Tourism.
“We’re expecting a big crowd.”
That crowd will feast on free hot dogs and chips while enjoying a variety of talented performers who will usher in TroyFest.
Those acts will include the SheBANG! championship cloggers, local six-string sensation Johnny Barron, his pupil Madisyn Johnson and the vocals of Christine Barron.
Jackson, who will also be performing, said the Brownbag event is a fitting way to open the floor for TroyFest, which is a big weekend for the city of Troy.
“This is the year of small towns downtown,” she said.
“We’re just excited to be able to have this event.”
