Mr. James Gafford Powell age 74 of Troy died Thursday, April 15, 2010 at the Troy Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 19, 2010 at 10:00 am from the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Troy with Reverends Clifford Mathews, Burney Enzor and Wes Hatcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 18, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the Funeral home.
He is survived by his wife Betty Jinright Powell of Troy, children Michael and Jeanette Powell of Saco, Gail and Bubba McDonald of Prattville, and David and Sharon Powell of Troy, grandchildren Priscilla Powell and Keith Dewayne Lott, Laura McDonald and Jonathan West, Andrew McDonald, Hannah McDonald, Parker and DeAnna Edwards, Drew Edwards, great granddaughter Alexandra Edwards, sisters Annie Charles Skipper, Helen (Harold) Macon, Carolyn (Morris) Barr, Peggy (Jimmy) Messick, a brother Johnny Ray Powell and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Gafford and Rebecca Powell.
Active pallbearers will be Leroy Stephens, Johnny Lockler, Huey Andress, Steve Stephens, James Johnson, and Lex Floyd.
Honorary pallbearers are the former employees of Alatex and Pike Manufacturing, and the staff of Troy Home Health care.
Memorial may be made to the Northside Baptist Church or the American Heart Association.
