Mr. Charles Winford Childs, age 72 of Troy died Thursday, April 15, 2010.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, April 18, 2010 at 2:00 pm from the Williams Memorial Cemetery on the Needmore road with Reverend David Zorn officiating and Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home Saturday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years Frances Childs of Troy, his children Huey Eugene (Sharon) Childs of Goshen, Sherlene Garney of Troy, John Robbie Childs of Troy, Thomas Childs of Goshen, and Angela (Hoyt) Shivers of Prattville, a special nephew Billy Griffin of Troy, grandchildren Amy (Joseph) Childs, Jonathan Garney, Sabrina Garney, Alex Childs, Kaitlyn Shivers, Tiffany Shivers, Blade Shivers, Great Granddaughter Isabelle Russell, Brothers and sisters John W. (Voncille) Childs of Geneva, Margie Valentine of San Antonia, Dorothy (Frank) Gorman of Troy, sister-in-law Christine Griffin, brother-in-law Joe Gibson, several nieces and nephews, and beloved dog Runt.
He was preceded in death by his parents John L. and Clotie Childs, daughter Charlene Childs, brother Jack Childs, sister Catherine Louise Childs, brother- in-law Benjamin Griffin, sisters-in-law Margaret “Peggy” Childs, and Leoma Gibson, and several nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers will be David Gibson, John Griffin, Bobby Griffin, Eddie Woodham, Alex Childs, and Jonathan Garney.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Bivin and Bobby Poe.
