The Eagles of Goshen continued its winning ways on Monday against county rival Pike County, thanks to a 15-0 win in three innings.

Haley Hughes got the win pitching the first two innings while Alli Warrick pitched the third.

The win was the Eagles’ fourth-in-a-row and improved the team’s record to 13-11 on the season.

“We were able to throw two pitchers (on Monday) and gained some more game experience,” head coach Dee Hughes said.

“Both of those things are going to help make us ready to play area games.”

The Eagles scored five runs in the first inning, seven in the second and three in third. Rachel Senn, Kathlyn Thomas and Nioka Slator led the way at the plate, each hitting and double and a triple.

One the things Hughes said that has helped the team come around is the amount of games the Eagles have played in recent weeks.

“I think that is our edge right now (on other teams),” the coach said about playing so many games.

“The girls got really fired up after the Pleasant Home win and that kind of confidence is something we hope continues,” she added.

The Eagles will be back in action today with a game against Highland Home at home followed by another home game on Thursday against the Rebels of Zion Chapel.

“We have a pretty good rivalry against Zion Chapel,” Hughes said.

“It should be a pretty good match up between the two team.”
