TUSCALOOSA | Robert (Bob) Murphree Brantley, age 82, of Tuscaloosa, died March 16, 2010, at home. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at 4 p.m. in Weed Baptist Church Cemetery in Brantley with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be tonight from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Olivia Weed Brantley.
Survivors include his son, Robert (Bobby) M. Brantley, Jr. and daughter-in-law June L. Brantley of Williamsburg, Va., and his grandchildren, Joy E. Carder of Williamsburg, Va. and Gwendolyn P. Brantley of Houston, Texas.
Mr. Brantley was a native of Troy, Alabama. He was a World War II Naval veteran. He graduated from Auburn University (API) and Peabody College. He was an educator, a member of First Baptist Church and the Tuscaloosa Civitan Club, and a Hospice of West Alabama volunteer.
