The Pike Liberal Arts School varsity baseball team continued its winning ways Thursday night thanks to its double-header sweep over Edgewood on the road.
Coming off a 16-3 win over Prattville Christian Academy on Tuesday, the Patriots continued its offensive assault winning 11-8 in the first game and 10-3 in the second.
“I think we lucked out (Thursday night),” head coach Butch Austin said. “But I think we played pretty well.” “We hit the ball real well all night,” Austin said. “I am pretty proud of the pitching we had as well.”
Will Starling got the win for the Patriots in the first game, and also helped his cause at the plate, going 2-3 with an RBI.
Nick McLaughlin also went 2-3, driving in two runs while Lawson Stewart went 2-4, with a double and two RBIs.
In the second game, PLAS continued to hit the ball well, as McLaughlin went 2-3 again while Blake Floyd went 3-4 at the plate, with a double, a triple and three RBIs.
Logan Stewart got the win for the Patriots.
“I really like what we are doing offensively,” Austin said. “But there are still some things we have to work on – we have to shore up our defense.”
With the wins, the Patriots start the new season out undefeated at 3-0.
