DOTHAN. . .Nora Jean Brooks Reeves, a resident of Dothan, died early Tuesday morning, February 23, 2010, in a Dothan hospital. She was 84.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 P. M. Wednesday, February 24, 2010, in the Hartford City Cemetery with Reverend Bob Gross officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P. M. Wednesday at the mortuary in Headland.

Mrs. Reeves was a native of Headland, daughter of the late M. C. Brooks, Sr. and Leota Balkcom Brooks. She was reared in Hartford where she was a graduate of the Geneva County High School. Mrs. Reeves formerly lived in Donalsonville, GA., Midland City, Abbeville and Troy before moving to Dothan in 1987. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dothan. Mrs. Reeves was retired from First Alabama Bank in Troy as a cashier. In earlier years, she was employed by the Headland National Bank, The Bank of Abbeville and also the A.S.C.S. office in Donalsonville and Abbeville.
Mrs. Reeves was preceded in death by her husband, James Edgar Reeves, Jr., a sister, Virginia Brooks Brown, a brother, Morris Cleveland Brooks, a grandson, Charles Lambert, a special aunt and uncle, Adelle and Clyde Hutto and another uncle and aunt, Judge D.C. and Ora Balkcom Halstead.
Surviving relatives include two daughters, Julia Reeves, Headland; Amy Reeves Powers and husband, Dave Powers, Orlando, FL; a son, James E. Reeves, III and wife, Judy Hawkins Reeves, Troy; a brother, Robert D. Brooks and wife, Sue Brooks, Pensacola, FL; four grandchildren, James Henry Williams, Judson Reeves Williams, Annabelle Jean Williams and Morgan Powers.
