Schools closed Friday in antipation of heavy snowfall

All local schools are closed tomorrow in anticipation of 3 to 5 inches of snow in Pike County.
Pike Liberal Arts Schools announced its closing early this morning.
Troy City and Pike County Schools made the decision after a public weather briefing Thursday afternoon.
New Life Christian Academy and Collegedale Schools are also closed. Covenant Christian School already was closed for a teacher workday.
Troy University is expected to close at 4 p.m. today and classes will be cancelled for Friday, said Dean of Student Services Herb Reeves.
The AISA Elite Eight Tournament scheduled for Friday has been postponed until Tuesday, Feb. 16. Pike Liberal Arts boys and girls basketball teams will compete Tuesday at 9 a.m. (girls) and 1:30 p.m. (boys).
According to weather officials, snowfall is expected to start after midnight tonight. Roads may be slick and drivers are urged to stay off the roads as much as possible, local law enforcement have said.
Troy City Hall is expected to stay open Friday. The Pike County Courthouse will be closed.
