Services for Pearl Brooks will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2010, at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Brundidge, Alabama, with Rev. A. R. Williams officiating.
Burial will follow at the Churchyard Cemetery, Tarentum Community, under the direction of George F. Grubbs Funeral Home, Troy.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 5, 2010, at George F. Grubbs Funeral Home, Troy, Alabama.
Pearl Burney Brooks was born the fifth child of the late John Burney and the late Mattie Flornoy Burney on January 25, 1911.
She received Christ under the leadership of Presiding Bishop Elder Lee at Bethel AME Church. She met and married the late Jay Cee Brooks on December 26, 1927 and to this union ten children were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mattie Flornoy Burney, three children, Marcus Brooks, John D. Brooks and Bob Brooks, three brothers and six sisters.
She leaves to cherish her memories: a devoted son, Roy (Gloria) Brooks, Troy, Alabama; other children, Elder Ray Brooks, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Lorenza (Vivian) Brooks, Athens, Georgia, Jacob Brooks, Sanford, Florida, Annie (Mack) Vickson, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Melanese (Martin) Montgomery, Alabama, Rex Georgia and Tobia Jones (guard daughter); daughter-in-law, Betty Brooks, Chicago, Illinois; twenty-five grandchildren; thirty-nine great-grandchildren; 25 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and devoted friends.
