Goshen falls to Highland Home
For the fourth time this season, the Goshen Eagles and the Highland Home Flying Squadron faced-off against one another.
Unfortunately, for the Eagles the scenario that played out the most happened against Friday night in the opening round of the 2A Area 5 tournament in Reeltown as HHHS was able to fly past GHS, 47-40.
“It was a low scoring game,” head coach Jonathan Deveridge said while traveling with the team back to Goshen Friday night.
“Tough to beat anyone though when you score only 40 points.
“We couldn’t find any kind of offensive rhythm – but I thought we player great defense,” he added.
The coach said his team missed a lot of easy shots close to the basket all throughout the game.
The Eagles finished their season with a final record of 3-15.
“To be honest, even though this season is over, I am excited about the future because out team was so young,” Deveridge said.
“But even though we are young, I still felt like we under achieved this season.
“I do feel like we got better towards the end of the season – and that’s the most important thing. The kids have to continue to work hard during the off season,” he added.
Reginald Foster finished the season with a double-double, scoring 11 points and grabbing 15 boards, while Antonio Brown led the team with 13 points.
