A Pike County Circuit Court jury found Mark Gabriel Perry guilty Monday of attempted rape and theft second degree.
Pike County Assistant District Attorney Scherryl Harrison said the charges stem from an incident that occurred in September 2006.
The female victim, who was a Troy University student, was leaving intramural practice to study after dark when Perry grabbed her and threw her to the ground.
Some students in a nearby building came out and the victim fought and screamed.
Perry took the victim’s phone and ran off.
According to Harrison, Perry dropped his wallet, which contained his ID near the scene of the incident, and the victim was able to identify him.
