Services for Deacon Otis Rouse will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 11, 2009, at Old Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 183 County Road 2217, Goshen, Alabama, with Rev. Travis S. Grace officiating.
Burial will follow at the Old Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Goshen, Alabama, under the direction of George F. Grubbs Funeral Home, Troy.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. On Thursday, December 10, 2009 at George F. Grubbs Funeral Home, Troy, Alabama.
The late Deacon Otis Rouse was born on January 26, 1934 in Pike County, Alabama, to the late Archie Rouse and the late Lillie Bell Rouse.
He became a member of the Old Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church at an early age.
Later in his years, he sat on the Board of Trustees and remained a Deacon until his death.
He attended school in Pike County and later became employed with CSX Railroad for twenty-six plus years where he later retired.
He was also employed by Whaley’s Lumber Co. and First Baptist Church of Troy, Alabama.
He enjoyed spending time at church, gardening and talking on his CB.
He also enjoyed being in the presence of all people, especially his family.
He leaves to cherish his memories: a devoted companion, Mrs. Sweetie Mae Siler and her loving children; his children, Barbara Finn, Troy, AL, Alfreda Harvey, Hempstead, NY, and Raphael D. Rouse (Timisha), Stone Mountain, Georgia; five step-children; sisters,
Lena Mae Pugh, Tampa, FL, Louise Toney, Troy, AL, and Edward Rouse (Cynthia), Pensacola, FL; fourteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; special friends, Angel Colon, John Crosskey, Joe Money and Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Jordan; and a host of other relatives and devoted friends.
