ABBEVILLE- Loretta Shehane Braswell Gleason, a resident of Abbeville, died Sunday night, November 29, 2009, in a Dothan hospital following a brief illness. She was 67.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A. M. Thursday, December 3, 2009, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Dan Corley officiating. Graveside services will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery with Father David Shoemaker officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 P. M. Wednesday at the mortuary in Abbeville.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the CrossRoads Ranch, Outreach of Freedom Prison Ministries, P.O. Box 458, Abbeville, AL. 36310 or to the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church “Food Bank”, 515 West Broad Street, Eufaula, AL. 36027.
Mrs. Gleason was born and reared in Barbour County, near Clio, daughter of the late William (Bill) Shehane and Lola Polly Shehane. She lived in Abbeville all her adult life where she was a retired employee of WestPoint Stevens. Mrs. Gleason was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Alto (Sam) Braswell, a daughter, Sebrina Braswell Williamson, an infant son, and also a brother, A. V. Shehane.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Robert A. (Bob) Gleason, Abbeville; a granddaughter, Kelli Williamson Yates and husband, Michael Yates, Greenbrier, TN; a grandson, Justin Williamson, Eufaula; a great-grandson, Payton Williamson; a son-in-law, Kenneth Gerald Williamson, Eufaula; two step-daughters, Mary Gleason Irwin and husband, Robert Irwin, Omaha, Nebraska; Jane Gleason Henderson, Athens, AL; a step-son, Michael Robert Gleason and wife, Rita Gleason, Rockledge, FL; six step-grandchildren, Thomas and David Gleason, Katey and Aaron Henderson and Olivia and Molly Irwin; three sisters, Lalar V. Nichols, Detroit, MI; Lillian Milligan, Seale, AL; Mernette Bray and husband, Bobby Bray, Troy; four brothers, Billy Shehane and wife, Dorothy Shehane, Ozark; John Shehane and wife, Debbie Shehane and Lonnie Dean Shehane and Jack Shehane all of Clio; several nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Jack Shehane, Lonnie Dean Shehane, Glenn Riley, Jared Bryant, Jay Bray, Michael Gleason and Aaron Henderson.
