Gene Ducote

Mr. Gene P. “Duke” Ducote age 80 of Troy died Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at the Troy Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 3:00 pm from the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Troy with Reverend Danny Arnold officiating.
Burial will follow in Green Hills Memorial Park with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy Directing.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 1:30 until 3:00 pm at the funeral home. Mr. Ducote was born in Kentucky and a graduate of Huntington College.
He was a sportswriter for the Montgomery Advertiser for three years, and hosted an informative radio show about Social Security on WTBF where his two most recognized characters were “Maw” and “Paw”.
He was an active member of the Park Memorial United Methodist Church, avid golfer, a mason and a member of the Troy Shrine Club
He is survived by his wife June Ducote, daughter and son-in-law Paula and Ben Rogers of Montgomery, Granddaughter Madison Leigh Rogers, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Garnet May, Joyce Maca, Lois Gayheart, Shelia and Paul Maggard, Dale and Naomi Gayheart, Bobby and Bulah Gayheart, Paul and Wanda Gayheart, Larry and Brenda Gayheart, Several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Gaston and Jane Ducote, sister Rhea Martin and brother Fred Ducote.
Active pallbearers will be Cade Daffin, Ben Rogers, Collin McCrary, Larry Gayheart, Bobby Gayheart, Keith Gayheart, David Ducote, and Dominic Ballard.
Thomas Martin will serve as a honorary pallbearer.
The family requests memorial be made to the Park Memorial United Methodist Church.
