The 2009 Johnson Center for the Arts Christmas ornaments have arrived and are on sale at the arts center on East Walnut Street in Troy.

Richard Metzger, JCA exeutive director, said the limited edition ornaments make great Christmas gifts and also are collector’s and keepsake items.

“Already people are reserving their ornaments and we only have 150,” Metzger said.

“So we encourage everyone not to wait too long to get these special ornaments. The 2009 ornament design features the arched window that is one of the many features of the Johnson Center.”

The ornaments are handmade fussed glass crafted by local artist, Walter Black, exclusively for the Johnson Center.

They are $15 each and will be shipped anywhere for a $5 shipping and handling fee.

The Johnson Center for the Arts Christmas ornaments are an annual offering of the arts center and should be collector’s items.

Last year’s edition was a ceramic ornament by Alabama artist Tara Sartorius.

Metzger said the idea is to use a local artist each year to design and create an ornament specific to the Johnson Center or related arts.

To reserve a 2009 Johnson Center for the Arts ornament, call 670-2287 or visit the Johnson Center on East Walnut Street in Troy.

“Be sure to add this beautiful ornament to your Christmas tree before they are all sold out,” Metzger said.
