After weeks of search, Troy Police have arrested an Ariton man alleged to have robbed a local convenient store earlier this month.
Bryan Bertona, 20, has been taken into custody and faces charges of robbery third degree. Bertona is suspected to have robbed a Beeline gas station unarmed at the intersection of Sanders Road and U.S. Highway 231 on Oct. 3. Police issued a warrant for Bertona’s arrest after he was believed to have been the robber, and thanks to the help of the public, Bertona was apprehended Monday evening, said Troy Police Spokesman Sgt. Benny Scarbrough.
“Police received a call that a subject matching the description of the picture of Bertona recently printed in the Troy Messenger was spotted,” Scarbrough said. Bertona was seen in the parking lot of Krystal on U.S. Highway 231 at 5:19 p.m. Monday, Scarbrough said.
After arrival, police investigation confirmed Bertona’s identity, and he was taken into custody without incident. Bertona was transported to the Troy Police Department and later to the Pike County Jail.
“We appreciate the assistance of those individuals who called and let us know about the subject and location,” Scarbrough said.
