CGI hosts local career fair Thursday

Troy’s newest industry has already started its local hiring process, but Thursday, that process will be even closer to home.

CGI will hold a local career fair Thursday, Oct. 22 from 3 to 9 p.m. at the city’s Sportsplex to let those interested in a career at the company get face-to-face information on the jobs offered.

Katie Booher, CGI’s workforce manager for Troy, said holding a career fair is something CGI typically does when it moves to a new location.

“We usually have a fairly large career fair to learn more about who we are, as well as apply to positions at one time,” Booher said.

Booher said those on hand will accept resumes and be available for questions.

“Coming and speaking to a member of the CGI team is much more valuable than just speaking to CGI online,” Booher said.

Booher said potential job candidates should come prepared with a resume, and be ready to speak with CGI employees, as part of the career fair will include screening candidates.

“We’re really looking for anybody interested in a career in CGI,” Booher said.

Booher said the company has already started some local interviews to fill immediate positions, such as human resources openings.

She said those, and some other roles, will start work immediately, but the majority of positions will begin work in January, after CGI’s new home is complete.
