Peanut butter is the byword for the annual Peanut Butter Festival and, since most every household has a jar of the popular foodstuff in the pantry, it’s not surprising that most folks have a favorite peanut butter recipe.

So, the annual Peanut Butter Recipe Contest is a way for peanut butter lovers to showcase new and creative ways to use it.

The Peanut Butter Recipe Contest is sponsored by the Brundidge Study Club and anyone who loves peanut butter is invited to enter.

There is a youth division and an adult division and there is also a professional division for those who make a living cooking good food.

There are five contest categories – candy, cookies, cakes, pies and main or side dishes.

In order for the judges to “get a good taste,” entries should include from 16 to 20 cookies or pieces of candy, half a cake, a whole pie and five servings of the other dishes.

The recipe should accompany each entry and a card listing the contestant’s name, telephone number and the division and category entered.

All dishes must be entered by 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31 at Brundidge Station.

Entries should be submitted on a disposable dish.

Samples of the entries will be sold at the Festival following the awarding of the prizes.

Winners will be announced in each division and in each category.

Those winners will have bragging rights for the coming year and become honorary members of the Brundidge Historical Society’s Peanut Butter Lovers Fan Club.
