The Troy Arts Council kicked of fits 2009-2010 season in a big way with guitarist Michael Kelsey in mini-concert at the Patrons Reception at the Cultural Arts Studio on Sept.1.

And, that was just the beginning of a fantastic lineup of entertainment that the TAC has planned for the season’s calendar, said John Jinright, TAC presenter chair.

On Tuesday, Sept. 22, the TAC will bring an internationally acclaimed husband and wife jazz duo to the stage of the Claudia Crosby Theater for “An Evening with Tuck and Patti.”

“Vocalist Patti Cathcart and guitarist Tuck Andress have been a steady performing duo for nearly three decades and they’re coming to Troy to present a tribute to the great American songs,” Jinright said. “Their program will include songs composed by Ellington, Mercer, Gershwin, Rogers, Hart and Hammerstein.”

The concert will have an underlying theme: Love.

The “standard” for Tuck and Patti is that love is real, it is infinitely powerful, contagious and unstoppable.

Their belief in love and its power and magic are evident in their concerts, Jinright said.

“This is one concert that you don’t want to miss.”

Welsh-born singer/songwriter Judith Owen will open the show. She is billed as equal parts musicality and wit.

“Her music combines pop, rock, jazz, classical, R&B and theatrical influences,” Jinright said.

The Los Angeles Times called Owen “whip smart, soulfully cool and deeply introspective.” The Washington Post praised her rare talent for effortlessly crossing genres and said her alluring vocal are a gift that keeps on giving.

The “An Evening with Tuck and Patti and Judith Owen Concert” will open at 6:45 p.m. with Judith Owen and Tuck and Patti will take the stage at 7:30 p.m.
