Three trainers at Walt’s Gym did something at the recent bodybuilding championships that too place in Birmingham last month that no one else in the state could do.

The three trainers did more than just win for themselves, they also gave Walt’s Gym so recognition.

Walt’s Gym was the only in the state to have all its representatives place in the top three as well as be the only gym in the state to have three nationally ranked athletes in three different bodybuilding competitions.

Symantha Griffin, who is also the owner of the Freckled Frog, finished in second place in the figure competition.

Angie McDonald finished first overall in the bikini competition and Brian Arrington finished 2nd in the middleweight body building competition and won the overall competition.

“Brian [Arrington] competed in the toughest division of the men’s competition,” Griffin said. “Finishing in 2nd place is a huge accomplishment.”

Arrington said that a large part of the trainer’s success came from the gym they each work at.

“We couldn’t have done this without the support and help from Walt and Kristy Edson [the owner of Walt’s Gym],” Arrington said.

“They both have been very supportive throughout all the competitions. The have provided us with great equipment.

“Without the gym, I’m not sure we would have been able to place as high as we did,” he added.
