Mrs. Maulene Prestwood Avant age 92 of Brundidge died Monday, August 31, 2009 at the Troy Health and Rehabilitation center.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at 2:30 pm from the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Brundidge with Reverend Bobby Hood Officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memorial Park with Dillard Funeral Home of Brundidge directing.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home.
Mrs. Avant was preceded in death by her husband Knowles G. Avant, a sister Ruth Klowetter, a brother LeAndrew Prestwood and a sister-in-law Lenora Avant Cox.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Murray and Ruth Avant of Dothan, Don and Martha Avant of Troy, and Jackie Avant of Dothan, 4 grandsons Greg, Chris, Micah, and Scott, 7 great grandsons Jeremy, Chase, Joshua, Jason, Chandler, Nick, and Jonathan, 2 great granddaughters Hastings and Sarah Jessie, 3 nieces Joan Slaughter of Troy, Sylvia Mannich of Loxley, and Debbie Phillips of Robertsdale, nephew Mike Prestwood of Loxley.
Active pallbearers will be Greg Avant, Micah Avant, Jeremy Avant, Scott Avant, Chase Avant and Chandler Avant.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Avant, Chris Avant, Jonathan Avant, Nicholas Avant, Mike Prestwood, Max Avant, and Aldridge Slaughter.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Salem Baptist Church of Brundidge.
