Mr. Harold Grimes, age 83, of Jack, Al. died Monday, August 24, 2009 at Elba Nursing Home in Elba. Funeral services for Harold Grimes will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 27, 2009 at Jack Assembly of God Church with Rev. Andy Marler and Rev. Ray Stinson officiating. Burial will follow in Jack Assembly of God Church Cemetery with Skeen Funeral Home of Troy directing. Visitation for Harold Grimes was held from 5-8 p.m. August 26, 2009 at Skeen Funeral Home in Troy. Mr. Grimes was born June 18, 1926 in Pike County, Alabama. He was a sheet metal mechanic at Dorsey Trailers in Elba. Mr. Grimes was the son of the late Sam and Phonola Merle Ellis Grimes. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Maudie Boutwell Grimes, an infant son, Donald Grimes, 2 brothers, Sam Grimes, Jr., Edridge Grimes and a sister, Mayo Francis Grimes. Survivors include a daughter: Mary Grimes Smith, Ozark, AL; son and daughter-in-law: Jerome and Marilyn Grimes, Wildwood, FL; 2 grandchildren: Jerry Michael Smith, Pensacola, FL; and Gary J. Smith, Ozark, AL; 3 step grandchildren and spouses: Wayne (Liz) Mills, Mike (Tina) Mills, and Lisa (Todd) Sterry, all of Oxford, FL; and 7 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Brandon Grant, B.J. Grant, Donny Johnson, Jerry M. Smith, Gary Smith and Gus Grant.
