Troy Police stopped a vehicle within city limits Thursday evening that was allegedly connected to a shooting in Ozark.
Ozark Police Chief Tony Spivey said the Ozark Police received a call claiming a shooting had occured at a local motel.
Ozark Police issued a “be on the lookout” for a 1997 Gold Lexis that may have been connected to the incident.
Troy Police Spokesman Sgt. Benny Scarbrough said the Troy Police stopped the vehicle around 6:20 p.m. Thursday in the northbound lane of U.S. Highway 231.
The vehicle was occupied by three black males from Montgomery County, and they were detained for questioning at the Ozark Police Department.
But, Spivey said after questioning there were no charges filed against them.
“We didn’t have anybody reporting a crime other than people heard shooting,” Spivey said. “The truth of the matter is, we actually have no idea what really happened.”
Spivey said after the shooting was reported, shell casings were found on the scene. The incident may be related to drugs, he said.
Another suspect vehicle was reported to have headed south, but that vehicle was not stopped.
