Johnny Boswell

Johnny Junior “Man” Boswell was born May 13, 1948 to the union of Robert Junior “Big Buck” Boswell and Fannie Lou Tolbert Boswell. At an early age he joined the New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in China Grove. He was called to rest Friday, July 10, 2009 at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery.
During his teen years, he met and married Gwendolyn Jean Rumph. They were not blessed with any children. He loved and raised her son, Garry Lamar Rumph as his own.
Mr. Boswell enjoyed pulp wooding and worked for Peacock Timber Company until a tragic accident in 1981 left him disabled.
He was preceded in death by his father; sisters, Annie Mae Christian, Mary Ann Boswell and Betty Boswell and brothers, Robert Jr. Boswell and Arthur Lee Boswell.
Survivors include his wife, Gwendolyn J. Boswell; son, Garry Lamar Rumph of Montgomery; mother, Fannie Lou Boswell; sisters, Laura V. Collins (Sim), Bonnie Skean (Mitchell), Debbie Hayes (Ivory), Kathy Bowen (Jonas) of Troy; brothers, Ira “Peter” Boswell of Clio, Johnny James “Duck” Boswell “Pat” of Orlando, Florida and Matthew Boswell (Minnie) of Troy; brothers-in law, Eddie Grimes (Melissa) and Lamon Martin (Shonta) of Troy; sisters-in law, Jacqueline M. Smith of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, Janice D. Martin, Gloria King (Freddie), Jeritha Davis (Willie), Christine Scott Parham (Paul), Jennifer Copeland of Troy, Evangeline Foster of Athens and Mary A. Stinson of Panama City, Florida; dear friend, Tonya Upshaw of Troy and several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
