The Troy Trojans basketball program has added former University of Alabama player Yamene Coleman as announced by head coach Don Maestri earlier this week.

Coleman makes the move to Troy after three seasons playing for the Crimson Tide where he averaged 3.7 points per game 3.8 rebounds per game as a junior reserve.

The 6’9”, 240 pound native of Boykin has been granted a waiver by the NCAA and will be eligible to play this upcoming season.

“He’s a nice sized post player that’s really athletic,” Troy head coach Don Maestri said. “He’s got a chance to really help us. He’s a big body that can really rebound and block shots. A solid post scorer gives us a totally different aspect that we didn’t have last year. It gives you more to play with.”

The big man is expected to contend for playing time with juniors Trayce Macon and Bernard Toombs at the post spot vacated by the graduation of former center Tom Jervis.

The Trojans will kick-off their 2009-10 campaign on November 14 with a home game against Piedmont College.
