Rankings released

The ITA released their final regional rankings for the 2009 season and the Troy University Trojans women’s tennis team finished the season ranked 14th in the South Region.
The Trojans were one of only three Sun Belt Conference schools ranked in the top 15 in the region, joined in the rankings by FIU at eighth and South Alabama at 11th overall.
The rest of the rankings included six Southeast Conference schools and three ACC schools, as well as one team each from the CAA, Big East and Atlantic Sun.
The Trojans faced eight of the teams ranked in the final poll at some point in the season, including top-ranked Georgia. The Bulldogs were followed by Miami, Georgia Tech, Florida and Florida State rounding out the top five. The second tier included Mississippi, Alabama, FIU, Auburn and Georgia State at 10th. The final five teams ranked in the region South Alabama, Mississippi State, South Florida, Troy and Stetson round out the top 15.
