Ida Cannon

Ida Lee Smith Cannon, 80, of Troy, Alabama, formerly of Birmingham, died Sunday, July 12, 2009.
She was preceded in death by her husband Preston Marion (Tom) Cannon and her grandson Hunter Stubblefield. She is survived by her daughters Bonnie Lee Cannon of Troy, Mary Stubblefield and husband Greg of Warrior, Emily Klein and husband Rob of Foley, and sons Tom Preston Cannon and wife Jan of Hoover, and Walter Cannon and wife Krystal of Wetumpka. She also leaves behind grandchildren Rusty Albritton (Janet) of Troy, Forrest Albritton (Julie) of Troy; Preston Stubblefield (Crystal) of Gardendale; Bobby Klein (Amy) of Smith Station and Jonathan Klein, Kristie Klein and Abby Klein of Foley; Rob Cannon (Jo) of Hoover, Matt Cannon (Cynthia) of Killeen, Texas, and Jennifer Cannon Eiland (Tyler) of Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo; Ryan Cannon of Atlanta, Georgia, Jeannie Lee Cannon of Pensacola, Florida, and Kelly Roberts, Kyle Roberts and Corey Cannon of Wetumpka; as well as 8 great-grandchildren.
The daughter of the late Frederick Eugene and Hilda Evelyn Smith, she grew up in Westover, Alabama and lived all of her married life in Altadena Valley. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved SEC sports, and was an avid University of Alabama football fan, who watched every game, kept up with recruiting, and knew all the players by name. She always put her family first, and her grandchildren knew that their “Mimi” could be counted on to remember every birthday.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 14 at 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy, followed by a funeral service at 7:00. There will be a graveside service at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East on Wednesday, July 15 at 1:00 p.m. Special thanks to First Choice Hospice of Elba and her two sitters Helen Moseley and Sara Ward.
