Troy Minors destroy Samson

Troy’s Americans opened the Dixie Minor District 9 tournament in grand fashion Friday in Geneva with a 14-1 drubbing of Samson.
“All our guys did a great job tonight,” Troy head coach Ken LaBrant said. “Our pitchers threw good and we played some great defense.”
Troy scored some runs with five in the first inning before Samson cut the lead to 5-1. Samson did not score again and Troy added two in the second, three in the third and four in the fourth for the 14-1 victory.
Troy scored 14 runs on 18 hits and all but two players scored a run.
Nick Lewis started the game on the mound for the win and went 3-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored.
Hunter Reeves also went 3-for-3 and Jackson Murphy, Charlie Tisdale and Jack LaBrant were 2-for-3 in the game. Murphy, Tisdale and LaBrant each scored two runs. Reed Johnson, Wood Jinright, Murphy Renfroe, Trae Sullivant, Reed Jinright and Dawson Hamlin each had one run scored.
LaBrant said the team did a great job and the team looks ready to tackle the next game.
Troy faces the Enterprise Americans at 4 p.m. today.
