A single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning ended in the death of one and the arrest of another.
Luiz Texcahua, 20 of Brundidge, died on impact after a vehicle driven by his brother Fabian Texcahua, 21, crashed about 4 miles south of Troy on County Road 5520 around 5:30 a.m. Sunday, according to a press release from the Alabama State Troopers.
Fabian has been charged with his brother’s murder and placed in the Pike County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
Initial investigation indicates the vehicle Fabian was driving was traveling higher than the speed limit at the time it ran off the road. He attempted to gain control of the car but over-corrected and lost control, the release said.
Luiz was ejected from the passenger window and pronounced dead at the scene by Pike County Coroner Jerry Williams.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the incident.
The wreck remains under investigation by the Alabama State Troopers.
