Americans draw bye, ready to face Friday game winner

The Troy Farm Americans got lucky and drew a bye in the upcoming district tournament in Luverne today. The Americans will not play until tomorrow and head coach Rod McWhorter is excited about that.
“We drew the bye and that will always help a team,” McWhorter said. “Our defense is really strong and that should be great for us.”
McWhorter said the team has been doing great and we hope we can live up to what Troy is,” he said. “Troy has such a great history and this team is good so we will do our best.”
Preparing for the tournament has been a fun experience for McWhorter and he said it is fun to get ready for the tournament.
“We are happy to be out here and I enjoy the kids and watching them have fun out there,” McWhorter said.
The Farm Americans include, Brax Barron, Donovan Eiland, Malcolm Hall, Holden Hollingshead, Bryant Hussey, Zack Jones, Gage Knighten, Karson Mays, Cole McWhorter, Trott Sikes, Will Stephens and Landon Thrash.
McWhorter is the head coach and Tommy Jones, David Thrash and Chad Copeland are the assistant coaches.
The Americans open play in the sub-district tournament June 27 in Luverne at 5 p.m.
