Pike County Sheriff’s deputies have located an attempted murder suspect they have been searching to find for months.

Demetric S. Potts, a 29-year-old black male, was arrested Wednesday, after he was found in Lake County, Fla. and has been charged with attempted murder, said Pike County Sheriff Russell Thomas.

“We gained information he was in Florida,” Thomas said. “A fugitive squad arrested him, and on instant he was taken into custody and has since been transported back to Pike County to face charges.”

Thomas said deputies have been searching for Potts since late March, when he allegedly fired shots into a vehicle on County Road 3306 in Springhill.

The alleged incident occurred March 26, when a local woman reported a vehicle attempted to run her car off the road and fired shots toward her. Calvin Foster, 26, who is said to be the driver of the vehicle, has already been arrested in connection with this incident.

However, Thomas said investigators believe Potts is the one who fired at least two shots.

At the time, Thomas said he believed the intent was to rob the victim, but the two were unsuccessful.

Potts remains in the Pike County Jail on a bond of $50,000. Foster’s bond was the same, and he has not yet been released on bond.
