Graduation is an exciting time in the life of any high school senior, and the seniors of Goshen High School were no different when they received their diplomas on Thursday night.

“I’m real excited. I’m feeling great,” said Justin Knight prior to the ceremony.

The 58 seniors graduated in front of a standing-room only crowd at the Goshen Gymnasium.

Even though the seniors were about to go their separate ways, both the valedictorian and the salutatorian noted the special bond the Class of 2009 shared.

“I know each of us is planning a life. No matter what path or direction we follow, we all share a bond as the class of 2009,” said Salutatorian Raven Shepherd.

Valedictorian Joshua West said the special bond the seniors shared had affected them all.

“We have all shaped each other, whether we know it or not,” West said. “As glad as I am that today is here, I have finally realized that I am going to miss each and every one of you.”

West also took the opportunity to congratulate his classmates on their

accomplishment.

“We have flown like Eagles and that has been proven by us being here tonight,” West said.

West closed his address by challenging the Class of 2009.

“Goshen High School Class of 2009, I believe it is time for us to fly,” West said.

Following West’s address, the 58 seniors came forward to receive their diplomas, a moment they had been looking forward to all year.

The rush of adrenaline reminded some seniors of their athletic conquests.

“I’m super excited. This is like football excited,” Dylan Harrell said.

However, along with the excitement came a sense of relief.

“I’ve been sleeping all year just trying to make it to this and I made it. I made it sleeping through every class,” Harrell said.
