Services for Fannie Laura Browder Gillis, 95, of Troy who died May 23, 2009 at Troy Health and Rehabilitation Center will be at 11 a.m. May 28, 2009 at St. Paul African Methodist Church with Rev. Bobby Cox officiating.
Burial will be in New Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Linwood under the direction of Harrison Funeral Home of Troy.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. May 27 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Gillis was born February, 18, 1914 in Orion.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nancy Jane Baker Browder and John Henry Browder; husband, Henry Grant Gillis; children, Vera Pearl Gillis, Mary Lois Kelley and Theodore R. Gillis and a grandson, Anthony Earl Kelly.
Survivors include her children, Samuel Gillis, Fannie Gillis, (Jimmy) King, H. Lewis (Gladys) Gillis, Elijah, Vallanda (Lorenzo) Baker, Connie Gillis and Cynthia (Willis) Parker; grandchildren she reared as her own, Deborah (Will) Smith, Anita L. Kelly and Angela (Bill) Stowman; 28 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild as well as numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and extraordinary friends.
Pallbearers include Richard Ousley, Reggie Ousley, Kevin Gillis, Avery Gillis, John Gillis, Derick Gillis, Eric Baker and Thomas Crawley.
Floral bearers will be Troy United Women League, sister friends and local AKA.
