Four Trojans honored

Troy University placed four players on the annual All-Sun Belt Conference team, the league announced on Tuesday night at the annual Family Night event prior to the league tournament.
The group includes senior Michael Precise, juniors Ryan Ditthardt and Chris Sorce and freshman Tyler Ray.
“I couldn’t be any prouder for those players, who have been recognized by the other coaches in this league for their performance on the field this year,” Troy coach Bobby Pierce said.
Precise, who was the only Trojan to earn first team All-Conference honors, earned a spot on the team as a utility player.
The Trojans placed two players on the second team All-Conference squad. Ditthardt a junior first baseman and junior closer Chris Sorce from were tabbed to the second team.
Ray, a right-handed pitcher, was honored as the league’s Freshman of the Year. Ray has been the Trojans’ Friday night starting pitcher for most of the season and is tied for the league lead with five conference victories.
No. 3 Troy begins play in the Sun Belt Baseball Tournament on its home diamond tonight at 7:30 p.m. against No. 6 South Alabama.
