Junior Kala Moore and sophomore Ashlyn Williams have been voted to the All-Region team as announced by the National Fast Pitch Coaches Association (NFCA) on Thursday.

The honor is a first for both players, and adds to an already impressive list of accolades for each.

“I am extremely happy for both of these deserving young ladies. Both have worked extremely hard on the field and in the classroom and it is good to see them rewarded for the job they do for us day in and day out,” Troy head coach Melanie Davis said.

Moore was named to the ESPN the Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District team on May 7.

Earlier that week she had been voted to the All-Sun Belt Conference team.

The shortstop from Verbena, Ala. led all of the Sun Belt in stolen bases with 32 on the year.

She ranked first on the Troy team at the plate with a .356 average.

The duo becomes Troy’s first all-region players since catcher Tamra Howren was selected in 2005.

The teams are voted on by the member coaches of the NFCA.
