Dance workshop to support scholarship

The Brundidge Chapter of the Troy University Alumni Association is posing the question, “Do you wanna dance?” and, those who do are invited to participate in a Dance Workshop from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, at the American Legion Building in Brundidge.
The $15 fee for the Dance Workshop supports the Brundidge alumni chapter’s scholarship program. The workshop fee may be paid at the door on Saturday.
Randy Ross, association president, said the Dance Workshop will feature Suzanne Wilson, a choreographer from Orlando and instructors, Teresa Davis and Donna Crozier.
“Suzanne Wilson has choreographed dances that are performed nationwide,” Ross said. “All of the instructors have participated in world championships and workshops and are excellent instructors. They make learning to dance fun and easy so beginners and advanced dancers can all benefit from the workshop.”
The participants will learn popular line dances, including the Electric Slide and the Locomotion as well as the old mainstays, like the jitterbug and the be-bop.
“We’ll have drinks and water available but we won’t take a lunch break so we invite everybody to bring a sack lunch and we’ll stop dancing long enough to eat and then get back on the dance floor,” Ross said. “The Dance Workshop is a fundraiser for our scholarship program, so it’s a very worthy cause. And, it’s also a good time for Troy University alumni and friends to get together. Even if you don’t dance, come and watch and join the fun.”
Ross said now is a good time to join the Brundidge Chapter of the Troy University Alumni Association.
Membership dues are $25 a year and include the Troy University magazine.
“Our chapter is active and involved,” he said. “Last year, we had a booth at the Peanut Butter Festival in Brundidge and had a great time and raised money for our chapter. We travel to several of the away games and this year we got trips planned to Florida and Arkansas. Membership in the alumni association will also give you access to alumni parties, including the New Orleans Bowl party.”
