Troy man arrested, faces rape charges
A Troy man was arrested Saturday for allegedly raping a minor child, who was his family member.
Juan “Carlos” Cardenas Reyes, 31, of Troy, was taken to the Pike County Jail and faces charges of rape first degree, sodomy first degree and incest for an incident reported in March, said Troy Police Spokesman Sgt. Benny Scarbrough.
Reyes, a Hispanic male, was arrested on a warrant, Scarbrough said.
Scarbrough would not release any other information about the incident, since the child was a minor.
But, he did say she was above the age of 12.
The rape and sodomy charges are both Class A felonies, and if convicted, Reyes will face at least 20 years in prison.
Incest is a Class C felony, which calls for sentencing higher than 10 years.
