The city of Troy will see another apartment complex constructed near Troy University in the future.
A request for a variance to construct a four-story apartment complex located at 603-703 Elm Street was approved by the Troy Board of Adjustments Thursday.
Greg Darden, representing AB Troy LLC, the company responsible for constructing this complex, said the company was going to relocate the clubhouse and add an addition building.
Board Member Perry Green brought up the concern of traffic flow on Elm Street, but Darden explained there are plans in the works to create a walking path from the apartments to the university.
A family requesting a variance to locate a mobile home on a lot with an existing home will have to appeal to the circuit court, if they wish to seek further action in this matter.
Two motions were made, one to deny the variance and one to approve it, but neither of the motions received a second, and therefore the request was dead.
A new home day care facility will open shortly in Troy, as the board approved a variance to allow Loraine Lampley to operate her home day care a residential district. The home would be limited to no more than six children at any time, and is governed by the Department of Human Resources.
